Due to the evolution in medicine in the past decades we have seen an exponential growth in the aging population. As medical technique and treatment evolve, the population tends to live longer. However, this aging population often needs rehabilitation in many forms. For instance, stroke patients require everything from speech to physical therapy.
In addition to stroke victims there are a plethora of older persons who have had joint replacement surgeries that require intense physical therapy. With the Baby Boomers crossing from middle age to a more mature age there will be a great need for rehabilitation centers. Unfortunately, many are filled to capacity. However, there is hope. There are many geriatric rehabilitation centers abroad that offer the latest in the multiple therapies required. And a change of scenery combined with the latest in therapeutical techniques may be just what the doctor ordered.
