Rhytidectomy, or a facelift procedure in layman’s terms, is one of the most popular and most commonly performed of cosmetic surgical procedures. The procedure is aimed at giving the patient a more youthful appearance by removing excess skin from the face and neck and tightening the remaining skin. The end result of a successful rhytidectomy procedure is the removal of wrinkles and younger looking skin.
Like other cosmetic surgeries with the exception of procedures required to allow the patient to live an ordinary life, rhytidectomies are elective procedures which are not covered by most health insurance policies. The cost of a rhytidectomy can be prohibitive, so many opt to have this surgery abroad in countries with high standards of medical care but where cosmetic procedures have a smaller price tag.
